Babcock LGE secures four-vessel project with Samsung Heavy Industries

Babcock LGE has secured a new contract with Samsung Heavy Industries to supply cargo handling systems for four 88,000m3 Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) being built for shipowner Oceonix in Korea.

This award strengthens Babcock LGE’s position in the global VLGC market and continues its long-standing involvement in the design and delivery of liquefied gas handling solutions for major shipyards and shipowners.

The four-vessel programme represents another project win in Korea and reinforces the value of Babcock LGE’s engineering capability, system integration expertise, and experience across large-scale gas carrier applications.

Babcock LGE will work closely with Samsung Heavy Industries throughout the engineering and delivery programme in support of the successful construction of all four vessels.

Andrew Fitzgerald, Commercial Director for Babcock LGE, said: “Securing this latest contract with Samsung Heavy Industries reflects the strength of our relationship, the confidence Samsung continues to place in our technology and team, and our shared commitment to delivering successful projects. We look forward to building on this partnership and supporting future growth together.”

Beyond delivery in 2029, Babcock LGE intends to build a strong, through-life relationship with Oceonix, enabling the vessel’s gas systems to perform optimally in operation.
